  • Pros: My son bought the Techzilla a year ago and it is too heavy and saved and got this bat this year and loves it so far. Slept with it the first night he got it! The bat looks nice too!

  • Pros: My son is 6 and we purchased the 27/17 at the end of 2013. He is about to finish his first season with this bat and he is happy. I can see a difference in the performance of this bat compared to other bats used by similarly talented kids in his league. Specifically how fast the ball gets into the outfield. Whether or not it is a $150+ difference is up for debate. I'm happy with the purchase and would do it again. I was concerned about using this bat in early spring because of the low temps so I also bought the Marucci AP Wood Bat 27" which served 2 purposes. 1- My son became stronger swinging the wood bat so the 27/17 became quicker in his hands. 2- He was able to practice in colder temperatures without me worrying about messing up his expensive PORTENT. Do not forget to break in the bat. The process I used was to hit about 100 balls off the tee rotating 1/4 turn every swing. I did this 3 times and increased my swing speed every 100 balls. Not sure if this actually did anything but they recommended the procedure so I followed and the bat has no dings, cracks, or dead spots. I'm not sure why this bat isn't more popular...it is an excellent product.
  • Cons: I do not like the stickers on the bat. The warning label is kind of funny but the warranty sticker is flashy and unnecessary.

  • Pros: Amazing pop, through 1 season it has been very durable. My son has a 31/21. He is 10 and is hitting farther than most of the 12 year olds on our team. The sweet spot is gigantic! It feels lighter than the XL1. The barrel of the bat is very long and will get you that extra hit that would have been on the thinner part of the bat on a different brand. I think this is one of the best buys out there.

  • Pros: Good looking bat, durable, long barrel.
  • Cons: My sons bat 31/21 did not have the same pop and sweet spot as his Combat Pure Gear did. I bought another Pure Gear 31/21 and it was hot right from the beginning. Maybe just an off bat?

  • I was wondering if this bat was 0.50 BBCOR?
  • Asked by Danielle Ricci
  • This bat is NOT BBCOR approved. A BBCOR bat must have a differential of 3 between the length and weight of the bat. This bat is a youth Little League bat NOT BBCOR approved. The BBCOR approved Combat Portent will be the PORAB103.
