2014 Easton Brett Helmer Slowpitch Softball Bat L4.0 ASA End Loaded SP14L4

The Easton L4.0 is the 2014 Brett Helmer signature model. With an end load built for a King, this bat has the power to go deep and drop bombs.

The difference between the L4.0 and the L6.0 is small, but enough to be appreciated. The barrel of the 4.0 is made of the new SIC Black Carbon and is going to prevent sting and vibration from getting to your hands on most hits. The 6.0 uses the IMX Composite in the handle instead, which is still great, but not quite as great as the SIC Carbon Fiber. The barrel is built using the same proven IMX Composite that has been used in Easton softball bat barrels for several years, giving you a MASSIVE sweet spot and unrivaled performance.

ASA - The Balanced 4.0 is approved for play in ASA and ISF. The new ASA standard is super hot, and is no longer the USSSA little brother of bat standards.

End Load - An end loaded slow pitch bat helps you have more power in your swing when the ball is struck. If you are powerful enough to swing an L series end loaded bat, you should stand to see an advantage over a balanced bat.

One-Piece - Keep it simple. For the guys (and gals) that like a traditional feel when swinging, the single system design gives you the advantage of instant feedback. Many players who swing one-piece bats do not like the feel of whip you get with a two-piece bat (like a golf club).

12 Month Warranty - The One Year Warranty is back. 2014 Easton Slowpitch Bats will have a warranty against defects for 365 days from the date of purchase.

2014 Easton L4.0 Softball Bat Features:
  • Single System Composite Design increases bat control
  • IMX Composite barrel optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance
  • SIC black carbon handle improves feel and reduces vibration
  • Brett Helmer Pro Model
  • 12" Barrel Length
  • End Loaded - 34/26(1oz), 34/27(2oz), 34/28(3oz), 34/30(4oz)
  • Approved for Play in ASA and ISF
  • One Year Manufacturer's Warranty

  • Pros: Got the 30oz/4oz endload. Feels good swinging through the zone and the extra load in the barrel helps drive through the ball. Bat really came alive after about 30 swings. Can't wait to see it after 200 swings.
  • Cons: massive rubber button sticker on endcap.

  • Pros: This bat is stupid good. I have taken about 600 quality hacks with this live in BP and its really come alive. Sounds like glass bros, it sick. Really like the feel of the handle on this bat. You can really feel the 3 oz end load, you can really feel it drop some head as you swing through the zone. Love it.

  • Pros: This bat is ridiculously good. 7 of 10 guys on my team use it now for every game. Huge sweet spot the size of the whole barrel. The end load is perfect. I even like the gauze grip on the bat. Hot right out of the wrapper. I immediately hit balls off the fence and I am not a power hitter.

  • Pros: Excellent price on a high end bat. Once you put in the work (bp) this bat gets real hot in regard to pop and distance. Plus it will last a long long time after it breaks in-great durability
  • Cons: The break in period. It takes a bit more bp to get hot then some other newer high end composite bats.

  • Pros: Bat looks amazing took about 75 cuts with it to breakin and swings beautifully towards the end of BP the ball was jumping off the Bat it made a crack like a major leaguer going downtown.
  • Cons: As expected the grip sucks I regripped immediately after initial BP, no other real cons I would say a Break in period that is expected shouldn't be considered. LOVE BAT

  • Pros: I love this bat. I have hit with it the last 2 weekends and the pitchers have added a second screen to protect them in the cage we use cause middle shots were starting to break the screen. Tons of pop and continues to get even better. I've been sold on Easton bats now and won't buy anything else.

  • Pros: Hot right out of the wrapper! This is my first end loaded bat and it's been an easy transition. I'm a line drive hitter so I usually use balanced bats to get more control, but this one feels great! Whips through the zone and when you catch it on the sweet spot the ball TAKES OFF! Obviously looks amazing also!
  • Cons: Haven't found any yet but I'm only about 150 swings in!

  • Pros: Two years ago we started using the Easton bats. We went from the Salvo to the 6.0 and now to the Brett Helmer. This bat hits exactly as it is advertised. For some reason it sounds different from the others but the results are the same. Great for hitting line drives past the infielders and bombs. This bat practically swings itself with the end loading. The handle is great and the knob diameter is perfect.
  • Cons: I probably should have stuck with the 27 ounce bat with the 2 ounces of end load. The 26 is a hair light.

  • Pros: This bat has a lot of pop right out of the gate. It almost seems the less you try and crush the ball the better the bat performs and longer distance you hit. It's helping me work on the fundamentals of my swing and making good contact is key.
  • Cons: The grips are a little firm on this bat and can cause some soar hands if you use it without batting gloves.

  • How will this bat perform / hold up with .4/300 balls?
  • Asked by Chris
  • This bat is made to be used with the .52 core 300 lb compression balls. A .44 core 300 lb compression ball will perform very similar with this bat.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • whats the difference between the L4 and L6?
  • Asked by Tony DeBenedetto
  • They are very similar. However, the L4.0 has the SIC Black Carbon Handle and is the Brett Helmer Signature Model.
  • Answered by Kris (Bat Expert)
  • what is the difference between this model ( L4.0 ) and the L3.0 end loaded. and is there a difference in break in period?? i cant find the L3.0 on eastons site anymore
  • Asked by Dewitt
  • The 2014 Easton Brett Helmer Slowpitch Softball Bat L4.0 ASA End Loaded SP14L4 is a 1-piece bat, while the 2014 Easton L3.0 Slowpitch Softball Bat ASA End Loaded SP14L3 is a 2-piece bat. Other than that, they are both made out of the same materials and will around the same performance and durability standards. It just comes down to your preference on 1-piece or 2-piece bats.
  • Answered by Kris (Bat Expert)
  • Does the 34/28 feel that much heavier than 28oz with the end load? By how much?
  • Asked by AR
  • The 2014 Easton Brett Helmer Slowpitch Softball Bat L4.0 ASA End Loaded SP14L4 bat in the 28oz. will have a 3oz. end load. This will make the swing weight of the bat feel heavier than a balanced 28oz. bat yes.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • Does the 2013 and the 2014 swing the same. I have a 13 and do not want more end load. Thanks
  • Asked by Tony Calise
  • The 2014 Easton Brett Helmer Slowpitch Softball Bat L4.0 ASA End Loaded SP14L4 has more end load than the 2013 model. The end load on the 2014 model is progressive with the weight of the bat. The 26oz. bat has a 1oz. end load, 27oz. bat has a 2oz. end load, and the 28oz. bat has a 3oz. end load.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • Can an asa bat used in USSSA tourney play?
  • Asked by Bill
  • An ASA bat may only be used in a USSSA tournament if it has the USSSA stamp on the bat as well. The 2014 Easton Brett Helmer Slowpitch Softball Bat L4.0 End Loaded SP14L4 does NOT have a USSSA approval stamp on it and cannot be used in USSSA sanctioned tournaments.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • When I did a test swing on the L6 28 oz I didnt feel the end load. when I did a test swing on the L3 I was able to feel the end load. should I be able to feel the end load on this bat, because if I dont feel it I'm going to look around for a 30oz
  • Asked by Nick
  • The Easton Brett Helmer L4.0 is an end loaded bat just like the L3.0 and L6.0 . The 3.0 will have a more end loaded feel as it is a 2 piece bat and due to the nature will feel more end loaded.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • Any coupons for this SP14L4 and do you have it available in 34/30? How long will this be on sale? Any specials for black friday?
  • Asked by jeff
  • We have just lowered the price of the SP14L4 and do not have any additional discounts for this bat. This bat will not have any further discounts during the holiday season. Unfortunately we do not have any 30 ounce available in this bat.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • Hello, how does this bat match up with the Louisville Z2000? I am using a 2013 model I believe, blueish 30oz, end loaded and love it. I have been looking at this bat for two years now and wonder how it compares now that I actually found one I like since the Z2000 isn't available in 30. Or even the Z3000 compared to both? Thank you
  • Asked by Josh
  • The Eason Brett Helmer SP14L4 will have a different feel from the Louisville Slugger Z2000 and Z3000. The Louisville Slugger Z series bats have a different sound and feel coming off the bat and seem to be hotter right out of the wrapper. The Easton Brett Helmer will take a little longer to break in.
