2015 Easton Mako Torq Slowpitch Softball Bat ASA End Loaded SP15MLA

The Mako Torq has made its way to the slow-pitch field! Easton constructs the Torq as a 2-piece bat made out of 100% TCT Composite material. TCT stands for “Thermo Composite Technology”, which allows the barrel to play soft and strong with a significant increase in overall performance. Connecting the hot barrel to the 29/32” handle is Easton’s patented CXN piece, stabilizing the bat and providing incredibly energy transfer. The handle is crafted with the new 360 Torq Technology, allowing the bottom hand to rotate naturally into the palm up/palm down position, eliminating the common “roll over on the ball” mistake while giving slow-pitch hitters the advantage of being able to square up more pitches, more often! This particular slow-pitch Mako Torq is preferred by power hitters, as it has an End Loaded Swing Weight, allowing more mass to meet the ball at impact for increased hitting distances. The 34”/26oz comes with a 1oz End Load, the 34"/27oz comes with a 2oz End Load & the 34”/28oz comes with a 3oz End Load. Lastly, this Mako Torq is approved by ASA and ISF softball associations.

  • Pros: Nice pop right out of the package. I put about 100 hits on the bat and it just keeps getting better. Nice 2oz endload for that nice bat snap.
  • Cons: Had to get use to the rotating handle, other than that excellent bat.

  • Pros: Excellent bat right out of the wrapper. The rotating handle might feel a little weird at first. However, it doesn't take long for you to forget and start swinging for the fences. Love the pop off this endloaded bat
  • Cons: If you are not a fan of the grip tape you can always upgrade it. Personally I like the minimalistic feel.

  • will there be anymore of this model going to be in stock?

  • I have been a successful line-drive type hitter with Easton's Balanced bats over a few years, the latest model being the 2014 SP14B3. I noticed that you're out of stock on the 26 ounce version of the balanced version of this bat (SP14MBA), so i'm considering this end-loaded model. i'm somewhat hesitant to go to an end-loaded bat since I only weigh 165-170 lbs. and am a 55-year old senior player. I did however swing this bat at a store numerous times and was surprised it did not feel any heavier than my balanced 26 ounce Easton bat. Would the torq action handle make it seem lighter than a traditional end-loaded bat? Do you have any insight/suggestions? Also, my league still uses the 44/375 (harder) ball and not the softer 52/300. Would this bat launch the harder ball farther or less than the 52/300? what about durability of this bat with the harder ball? Thank you
  • Asked by Nelson
  • This bat is made for the .52/300 balls and will not last as long using the .44/375 ball.

  • what bat would you compare this to with the demarini line
  • Asked by jordan
  • Unfortunately due to the rotating handle, nothing will compare to this bat. Easton is the only company offering a rotating handle at this time.

  • What is the exact length of the barrel? I've seen pictures that make this ASA endloaded version look like the usual 12 inch Eastons while the USSSA endloaded version looks to be 13 inches.
  • Asked by Adrian
  • The SP15MLA will have a 12" barrel while the SP15MBA will have a 13" barrel.

  • How long is the rotating portion of the handle? I try to hit for power so I drop 2 fingers off the knob then overlap 2 fingers top hand over bottom, would this rotating handle feature really work with my swing or is it for more of a standard baseball grip?
  • Asked by Tim
  • The Mako Torq Slowpitch Softball Bat rotation area starts just above the knob on the handle and is about 3.5 inches long. If you're overlapping your top hand into the 3.5 inch rotation area where your bottom hand lies then you may keep the handle from rotating, in which case the Torq handle would become useless. If that is the case, you might be better off going for the Mako Realtree Slowpitch Softball Bat, as it's VERY similar to the Mako Torq, minus the rotating Torq handle.

  • How does the TCT composite compare to the IMX? Better feel? Durability? Performance?
  • Asked by Tim
  • Both are advanced composites, but the TCT is Easton's #1 top notch material. The TCT is more durable, better performing & plays a little more soft and strong. The IMX is still a very good composite though.
