The single wall Raw Steel is back! Finally! Complete with the latest ZnX Alloy handle, the 2016/2017 Steel brings you the power you demand in a single wall barrel design. The barrel is made up of DeMarini's new, improved raw steel material for better durability, better pop, and better performance than ever before! This Raw Steel is also hot right out of the wrapper and game ready from day one!

  • Pros: Have only hit with this once, but WOW. Swings very similar to the White Raw Steel with a similar sound. Ball jumps off the bat. If the durability holds up, this is going to be "the" bat in single wall leagues.
  • Cons: Too early to tell about durability.

  • Pros: This bat is great for hitting mush balls that we use in our bar league. But a word of caution, this bat is super end loaded. It is meant for advanced players only. And when I mean advanced players I mean big wreck hitters who can control the balance and weight of this bat. If your a novice you might have trouble controlling this bat. But if your a heavy hitter tell the infield to watch out because the ball is going to come at them super hard.
  • Cons: Not meant for novice players.

  • Pros: Demarini makes the best softball bats right now. By far I see them on the field most, as well as Miken. The Raw Steel is a great bat and adds a much needed bat that I can use anywhere at any time and know that it will produce results. This is the ultimate softball bat.

  • Pros: It has that late 90's college World Series "ping" sound when you hit the sweet spot.
  • Cons: The before mentioned sweet spot is about the size of a nickel. This bat is just awful. No pop, no distance. Very unforgiving bat. I would not buy this again or recommend it to anyone. I don't expect the same performance as a composite but never did I expect it to such a dud. I still bring it to my metal only leagues but less and less people are swinging it and after last week, I'm done with it.

  • Pros: First off, the customer service was outstanding. Very friendly and quickly shipped! The bat was in great shape upon receiving and was ready to hit. I took it to the field right away to get some swings in and it instantly felt great. I've used this bat in a weekend tournament and in a double header and let me tell you that it does not disappoint! The power is outstanding and you can really control the ball in any direction you like very easy with the bat. I've hit 7 homers in 2 days and already the other team is checking to make sure its "legal" lol. I've used it and can't wait til the next time

  • Pros: 52/300 tattoos are what we use in my leagues, this bat has about the largest sweet spot out of any bat i have used the last few seasons, great for going the other way or for late games or rainy games when the ball softens up. Also seems like it has more pop on slower bat speeds compared to composites my lady friend hits the ball farther and more consistent with this bat than any other. i would recommend it as 1 of the bats to carry with you as a placement bat dont expect a ton of home runs out of it.
  • Cons: if you generate a lot of power in your swing you dont have as much distance compared to bats like a torch or juggy.

  • Pros: Wonderfully balanced for monstrous hits. As good as a good composite. The "26 oz" bat is a full oz. lighter than the "26 oz." 2018 Steel.
  • Cons: Not a thing.

  • Pros: Started using this bat in my co-ed league from the 50 guys that each had one and used it bc of the NSA stamp. Decided hey I might buy this for my women’s league, started swinging a 30 oz couldn’t find this year model anywhere until I found it on cheap bats, I bought it and it’s hot out the wrapper, always used demarinis never been disappointed.

  • Will this bat come in a 28oz?
  • Asked by Miguel
  • This bat is no longer being made but the 2020 DeMarini Steel does come in a 28 ounce and is the exact same bat with a new paint job.
  • Answered by Mike
  • Have ASA and or USSSA regulations changed that would make this bat illegal for 2018 or beyond?
  • Asked by Dom
  • Nope. There are currently no plans to change any softball bat standards.
  • Answered by Mike
  • Does the 2016 Demarini Steel come in balanced swing weight?
  • Asked by Matthew Abreu
  • The Raw Steel is not offered in a balanced swing weight.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • what are the wall thickness dimensions of this new design ? As you know when the old design for RAWS and WHITES was changed for the 2012 season the walls were so thin that every one sold either dented or cracked , sometimes in the first game used. I hesitate to buy this version for fear of the same flaw. I found a leftover brand new 2014 RAW in March 2016 , started using it in May 2016 and by game 3 it was flatspotted already . I have cracked or flatsoptted 10 bats since 2012 so unless these 2016 models are thicker walled then I can not take a chance . Thank you
  • Asked by bob
  • The 2014 model did have a manufacturer's flaw which is why it was discontinued so quick. DeMarini is now making this bat in house rather than outsourced. To find the exact details you are looking for you will need to contact DeMarini directly.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • It says the 26oz has an 11 inch barrel, and the 28oz and 30oz has a 12 inch barrel. Will that affect the sweet spot of the bat?
  • Asked by Sean
  • Yes, the 28oz. and 30oz. will have a slightly bigger sweet spot.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • Does this bat have the demarini rotational index? I don't see it on the barrel anywhere
  • Asked by Kurt
  • DeMarini did not put a rotational index on this bat at this time.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • You guys had some up for pre order and I was going to buy one, but now I don't see them available for pre order. When will you have more for pre order and when will they arrive?
  • Asked by Chaz
  • We sold our first batch of Raw Steels and are awaiting an arrival date for our second batch. As of today (March 28th, 2016) we do not know when we will receive more Raw Steel softball bats. We are receiving a bunch of calls and emails about the arrival date of the next round of bats, but as of right now we do not know when more will come in. The best thing to do is check this page for updates. We will update this page with the expected arrival date as soon as we know when that will be.
Customer who Pre Ordered this bat for 4-1-16 delivery will receive their bats on 4-1-16.
  • Answered by Mike - Bat Expert
  • What's the difference between the raw steel and the white steel? and will you guys be carrying the white steel when it comes out?
  • Asked by Johnny
  • The White Steel has a composite handle while the Raw Steel has an alloy handle. DeMarini has not informed us of any new White Steels being released in the near future.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • Want to make sure that this is still a single wall aluminum (steel) barrel. The new way they make the barrel seems a little suspicious. would this still work in a single wall aluminum/steel league?
  • Asked by Sean
  • The 2016 DeMarini Raw Steel WTDXSTL-16 will be a single wall alloy bat. It is a two piece design with an alloy handle and alloy barrel.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • Will you have any available in store on 4/1/16?
  • Asked by ZMAN
  • The day that we have them available online will be the day that they are available at Home Run Park. If they are not available online, they will not be available in store.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • How can I preorder this bat and is there a limit I can preorder?
  • Asked by Scott
  • UPDATED: Pre Orders begin March 18th, 2016.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • Why is this not listed on the Demarini website?
  • Asked by Steve
  • The Raw Steel just launched for advertising on 2/1/16 and isn't available for pre order until 3/18/16, so DeMarini probably just hasn't gotten around to it yet.
