2016 Louisville Slugger Z4000 USSSA Balanced Slowpitch Softball Bat SBZ416U-B

The Z4000 bats for 2016 are made as a 3-piece, constructed out of 100% Pure 360 Composite material. The barrel-to-handle connection is held together using the TRU3 piece, which significantly eliminates vibration and efficiently transfers contact energy back to the barrel. Speaking of the barrel, Louisville uses a Grit Blast Finish to create more spin on the ball. This spin will increase the intensity of your hits, making them go further at a faster speed. Lastly, the Z4's have a 7/8" Tapered Handle12" Barrel Length & the standard slow-pitch 2 1/4" Barrel Diameter

Balanced - Made for contact hitters, this Z4000 has a Balanced weighting for increased swing speed and improved bat control.

USSSA - This bat is approved for USSSA, NSA and ISA softball associations.

  • Pros: Awesome pop right out of the wrapper, very smooth swinging feel. New grip taper is fantastic. Overall a huge step up in swing feel from the previous Z models. A new King is going to be crowned in the LS line.
  • Cons: barrel grit seems to wear pretty quick but thats the only thing on the con list

  • Pros: The bat feels great right out of the wrapper. We hit a mix of balls and the ball exit speed was great. The bat looks, sounds, and performs better than anything I have swung. After the first 50 swings, I am sure it has opened up and is game ready. The grit blast finish was a great addition and ball spin is noticeable when you slice the ball. I feel no wobble in the handle and that bat swings awesome. When you mishit it, you can tell either near the handle or at the end of the barrel near the end cap, but the sweet spot is massive and we barely mishit balls. I feel it is an improvement at this time to prior z series bats, Only time will tell. I also like the tapered grip at the end since I like to grip over the knob. Louisville really took the time to give us players what we want and look for in a bat. Also, at the cages, the ladies next to us in the batting cages even asked us what bat we were swinging and were upset that there are no women's bats that look as nice as this new z4000.
  • Cons: I am not a fan of the white rubber endcap cover and white knob, if you drop the bat it shows in the white parts of the bat, scratches easily. Other than that, I feel there are no flaws to this bat at this time and I am sure Louisville will take care of their customers with the warranty they offer for this new z4000.

  • Pros: I've never been a Louisville fan. I've always stuck with Miken and Easton but after hearing the rave over this bat, I decided to pick one up. They say the bat comes hot out of the wrapper but since I own two of these, one end loaded, one balance, I can say it takes about 50 good cuts for it to really shine. Out of 13 bats, 10 of which I own, everyone loves this bat and they'll wait in line to use it. It's really smooth through the zone, with a good size sweet spot. The 3 piece design makes it a very good feel. As I mentioned earlier, I own two of these and it's because these bats are on point. I bought the end loaded and fell in love and had to pick up the balanced. These two bats have pretty much replaced all other bats.
  • Cons: No cons yet. Some say these bats have cracked but I've put probably 200+ cuts on these bats and they're still beast.

  • Pros: I'm not big on balanced bats, I typically go with endloaded. I'm 5'11" and weigh 210lbs, my first swing with this bat in a game bounced off of the fence in left field foul. I also have a Z4000 Backman which I swing. This bat in my opinion performs just as well as my endloaded Backman. My Backman is 27.5oz and my balanced Z4000 is 27oz. I pop up less with the balanced bat but I hit the ball farther with the Backman. Bottom line, I would recommend this bat to anyone looking to swing a balanced bat. It's not yet broken in and it has plenty of pop.
  • Cons: Getting used to a balanced bat. I'm 44 and have never swung a balanced bat.

  • Pros: Used last league night out of the wrapper, bat swung smooth and the ball jumped off the bat pretty well for a brand new stick. I bought an end load Miken Freak Black earlier this year and like this bat a lot more. Balanced seems to work with my swing better than end loaded bats. For those looking for a balanced bat, I would recommend.
  • Cons: Not a huge fan of the knob at the end of the handle.

  • Pros: Took about 70-100 swings but this bat is hot. Hits almost as far as my worth for 1/2 the cost. Outside of the very unfortunate pitcher that i hit last week, this thing is awesome. You'll be blasting one hoppers to the fence on the regular.
  • Cons: Twist in the Tru3 handle takes some getting used to. Once you've hit it 20 or 30 times, you won't even notice anymore.

  • Pros: I really like the balanced weight. Does not swing like a most 30oz. Didn't take long to start hitting them out (2nd game after 1 round of 20 swings in the cage). 1st HR came after maybe 25 hits, some of which were not hit well getting used to the way it swings. The grip allows for you to get a ton of spin to help in HR or crazy tail backside.
  • Cons: Haven't found any complaints yet.

  • Pros: This bat is my best purchase by far. I bought this for a slowpitch I had to play this past weekend, and let me just say it took about 50 hits to break this bat in. Maybe even less, this bat had great pop and a HUGE sweet spot on the bat. I love Louisville bats. But this one right here is already my all time favorite!! You will not regret buying this.

  • Pros: after years of swinging end-loaded bats, i switched to balanced a few years ago. zero regrets, i'm 51 and more consistently get a solid bat on the ball swinging a balanced bat. though i can occasionally hit home runs, i'm more of a line drive hitter. I bought this bat in a 30 oz. weight to dabble with something heavier than the 27 oz. bat (a Miken) that I have been primarily using the last couple of summers. worth taking at least 200 cracks in batting practice before using it in a game. Like many composite bats, this needs to be broken in. I had to remind myself of that when the first 50-100 hits felt a little dead coming off the bat. the grip is a nice material with some cushion to it. Vibration is minimal to non-existent, which is nice. the barrel has a very fine 'grit' feel to it, like very light sandpaper; i'm not sure what impact that has. once it is broken in, If you take a good swing and catch the ball flush, this bat will certainly help you drive it hard and far.
  • Cons: out of the wrapper, the grip has a bulge near the knob. Some people probably like that bulge; it mildly bruised my hand when i was first using the bat. i have gotten used to it but am debating whether to re-grip it.

  • Pros: Takes about 50-60 swings to get heated up- after that you will be hitting home runs even if your swing isn’t perfect. Really a great bat. I flew all the way to Anaheim to pick up 3 of these bats as cheap bats doesn’t ship to Canada and this is the only place I could find them. Just a super bat!
  • Cons: Does take 50 swings to get fully heated up.

  • Pros: I've never swung a Louisville in softball until I bought this and another Louisville closeout last year for the 2017 season. I bought them as team bats. I purchased this Z4000 in 27oz, and the end loaded version in 26oz. I couldn't believe how many drives were off of or over the fence last year. It really was the missing link for consistent pop for our team. We're a team of average guys with several above average players. I was super impressed by these Louisvilles in everyone's hands. As reported in a youtube vid I watched of a review of this bat and the end loaded Z4, the texture of these bats creates a unique waffling on the ball if you hit it just right. This bat hit just as well as the $300+ dollar bats some of our guys brought to the field. It's balanced nicely for contact hitters, but can send them flying to the fence just the same.
  • Cons: Pretty hot out of the wrapper, but definitely warmed up more as the season progressed.

  • What is the difference between the balanced z4 and the z4000 balanced?
  • Asked by Chad
  • The only main difference will be the graphics in the bats.
  • Answered by Kevin (Customer Service)
  • what size should I get I'm 6'0 210
  • Asked by Jo
  • It will ultimately come down to what you prefer or can handle. We have seen guys your size swing 26 ounces as well as 30 ounces. The heavier the bat you can handle the more force you will have, the further the ball will go. In the end it comes down to how strong you are and your bat speed.
