  • Pros: Have around 100 swings on this at time of review with 52/300s only. It'd give this bat a 4.5/5 currently. Purchased a 26oz, but definitely comes in on the heavy end. The end load is definitely noticeable, but not as extreme as the Eastons. The balance point is exactly the same as my 26oz 2015 USA Aftermath. Barrel was stiff out of the wrapper, but performance was still good. Handle is stiff, but the 14" barrel is forgiving on miss hits. Barrel response and feedback on the 52s is great. I'd love to see how this bat handles 44s, however, I don't want durability to suffer. I've seen others say this takes about 500 swings to really open up, and if it continues to break it at the current pace, this is a definite winner for ASA. And at $170, its a steal.
  • Cons: Paint is more sensitive to field rash/wear, however, it's a cosmetic issue only.

  • Pros: This bat shipped quick like always from cheap bats. This bat does have pretty good pop out of the wrapper I think a few other bats might be hotter out of the wrapper but this one has good pop. I have about 200 hits in on this bat but 80 was the indoor pitching machine balls. I have read it take about 500 hits to open this bat up which at 200 its doing well. The end load is noticeable which helps get through the zone quick and can help you go opo if you sit and wait long enough.
  • Cons: Paint is starting to wear off after two games. I personally don't like the color scheme but that's me. I personally don't like the rubber grip on the handle replace with medicine tap but I am sure its fine for others Stiffer handle compared to my Easton Synergy flex and the Juggy. I don't know if this is a con but the break in time is longer then other bats but I have a feeling this bat will stay hotter longer then other bats that break in quick.

  • Pros: This bat is hot right off the wrapper. 1st at bat hit a shot to the fence. The end-load really puts the feel to the sweet spot of the barrel, without affecting the feel of the overall swing. The miken grip is soft and really conforms to your hands. The color of the bat is amazing, really stands out in the sun! Overall this is a great product by miken that is game ready and will only get better with more swings!

  • Asked by Bobby

  • What is the difference between this bat and the DC41, besides the endload?
  • Asked by Kevin
  • The DC41 is the Denny Crine signature series bat will the Freak Black is their standard model. Other than that, the specs are very similar.

  • I was told by a Miken rep that maxload is half oz end load, supermax is 1 oz and ultramax is one and half oz endload .
  • Asked by Kevin
  • If that was told to you by a legitimate Miken representative then it probably is true. If it is "softball guy" slanging bats out of his car, we would take it with a grain of salt.

  • How much end load? Thanks
  • Asked by Mike
  • There is a 1 ounce end load.

  • I play ASA and Senior ball. Will this bat flex and feel just like the Black Ultra II senior bat?
  • Asked by softballmann
  • This bat will not have nearly as much "pop" as the Black Ultra II senior bat. They will have a similar design with a much slower exit speed.
