2014 Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat -10oz YB14X1

2014 Easton XL1 Youth Bat

The 2014 Easton youth XL1 Bat is a TWO-PIECE BAT with both a composite barrel and a composite handle. The Barrel is constructed with Easton's IMX Composite MONSTER BARREL design which gives the XL1 youth bat a massive sweet spot and maximum performance. The handle of this youth baseball bat is made with Easton's SIC Black Carbon handle, and all of this is held together with Easton's patented two-piece ConneXion technology which maximizes the energy transfer and gives this bat a really great feel. This is the bat power hitters at the Little League World Series are using. The XL1 is more end loaded, and 1 ounce heavier than the 2014 Mako, but if you have the strength to swing the XL1 bat, you should take advantage of the added mass of the bat.

Bottom Line / Why It's a Best Seller

The 2014 XL1 Youth Bat is a carry over from the 2013 model, but with updated graphics. The XL1 has a very large sweet spot and barrel. If you are strong enough to swing this bat, you probably do not need the more expensive Mako youth bat, as that is meant to be a lighter bat for kids who can't swing as fast as the stronger hitters. Most of the power hitters in the 2013 Little League World Series used the XL1.

  • Easton Model A112764
  • Yellow and Black Graphics

  • Pros: My son has become a pretty good hitter, mostly strongly high grounders and some liners. With the XL1, the hits now go to the fence with a lot of motovation. It is amazing how much energy transfer happens with this bat. Some would call it pop, however that is a bit wimpy for what this bat does to a well hit ball.
  • Cons: Can sting really bad if not hit on the sweet spot. Suggest batting gloves and vibration ring.

  • Pros: Bought this bat for my 11 yr old son for his b-day. The bat has great pop. My son often swung his Easton S1 too fast and he would miss the sweet spot. The extend sweet spot was perfect for him. He's strong so going to a heavier bat was no problem what so ever. He gets great line drives and regularly hits them to the fence. A buddy of his got the Mako and my tried it also. He likes his XL1 better. He's gotten much better hits with his XL1.
  • Cons: I've notice kids that aren't as strong as my son have a difficult time swinging an XL1. The extra 2 ounces makes a difference for some. Overall great bat if a kid can swing a heavier bat.

  • Pros: Great pop right out of the wrap, and huge barrel. If you are able to swing the larger mass bats, this will sure help you drive one out of the Park!
  • Cons: Not much Cons, except for the brutal sting. This bat is not that padded in the hands and without gloves, will kill of the top of the bat. The only con about this bat is the grip.

  • Pros: Son loves it. It has great pop right out of the box. I can't imagine once it gets broken in how much extra distance you will get. My son 3rd swing traveled 215ft.
  • Cons: A little heavy for the average little league kid.

  • Pros: The XL1 is an excellent bat for your advanced hitting little leaguer. It is a two piece composite bat that is slightly end loaded. The bat seems to have a larger sweet spot and more pop then the CF6 that my little leaguer also uses. Both are great bats but the XL1 in the hands of a kid with good bat speed is a great combination. The weight appears to be close to advertised.
  • Cons: You will need batting gloves as the grip is not forgiving on your hands. Plus, there is some vibration from the bat on miss hit balls. On other hand the CF6 is vibration free. If your hitter needs a balanced bat with no sting then the CF6 is a great bat but if your child is an advanced hitter that can handle an end loaded bat then go with the XL1.

  • Pros: Great bat, lots of pop. Bought this bat for my 10 year old son when his easton S3 start to show signs that it was due for replacement. He loves this bat, says he doesn't even feel the ball fly off the bat. And his batting average has gone up because there is more pop.

  • My sone is 7yrs old, weighs 50lbs and approx 48" tall. He currently swings a 27/15 and a 28/15 well. Is this bat too much for him in a 28/18? Thanks!
  • Asked by Sawyer
  • It is tough for us to make that decision without seeing your child swing the bat in person. A heavier bat for a child not ready for one can lead to the child dragging the bat through the hitting zone, or causing him to have a weak top hand and either roll over or pop everything up. The Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat YB14X1 is designed for a kid who is a little stronger or more of a power hitter. We recommend him trying a minus 10 bat first before making a purchase for one.
