The 2014 Easton youth XL1 Bat is a TWO-PIECE BAT with both a composite barrel and a composite handle. The Barrel is constructed with Easton's IMX Composite MONSTER BARREL design which gives the XL1 youth bat a massive sweet spot and maximum performance. The handle of this youth baseball bat is made with Easton's SIC Black Carbon handle, and all of this is held together with Easton's patented two-piece ConneXion technology which maximizes the energy transfer and gives this bat a really great feel. This is the bat power hitters at the Little League World Series are using. The XL1 is more end loaded, and 1 ounce heavier than the 2014 Mako, but if you have the strength to swing the XL1 bat, you should take advantage of the added mass of the bat.
The 2014 XL1 Youth Bat is a carry over from the 2013 model, but with updated graphics. The XL1 has a very large sweet spot and barrel. If you are strong enough to swing this bat, you probably do not need the more expensive Mako youth bat, as that is meant to be a lighter bat for kids who can't swing as fast as the stronger hitters. Most of the power hitters in the 2013 Little League World Series used the XL1.
